WINDOWS98/WINDOWS Millennium
WINDOWS MILLENNIUM ("ME")- Windows
Millennium ("ME") is the followon OS for Windows 98/98 SE from the "consumer" Windows group of MS.
- Notes:
Windows ME has profound changes related to how it handles DOS/DOS applications:
*
You cannot boot ME up to a DOS prompt without the ME Emergency Boot Disk (or boot with an older Win98/95/DOS disk)
*
You can no longer load real mode DOS drivers via autoexec.bat or config.sys-it does not use them. ME instead stores that data (SET commands, etc.) in the Registry.
*
There is no "MSDOS Mode" in Windows ME.
- Here's
an unofficial patch to allow "ME" to boot to a Real Mode DOS prompt.
